Do you have a passion for mechanical systems and wildlife conservation? Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is looking for a skilled HVAC Technician to join our dedicated Maintenance team. This role is vital to the comfort and safety of our guests, staff, and animal residents across our 23-acre zoo campus.

We’re seeking a candidate with strong HVAC and mechanical experience who is ready to help maintain, install, and repair essential systems in a one-of-a-kind work environment.

What You’ll Do:
● Maintain, install, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including A/C, heating, pumps, refrigeration, and related components.
● Perform diagnostics and routine preventive maintenance to ensure systems run efficiently and safely.
● Troubleshoot and replace defective parts such as motors, compressors, thermostats, sensors, fans, and valves.
● Respond to emergency maintenance needs and system failures.
● Organize and track daily tasks using a digital work order system.
● Operate zoo vehicles and assist with general facility maintenance tasks.
● Follow safety procedures, building codes, and zoo policies to maintain a secure and functional environment.

What You Bring:
● Universal Certification required.
● 5+ years of HVAC and mechanical experience; commercial or hospitality background preferred.
● Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, troubleshooting methods, and preventative maintenance techniques.
● Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
● Able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and respond to urgent issues as needed.
● Comfortable working in South Florida’s outdoor climate and in proximity to live animals.
● Must pass background check, drug screening, and annual TB testing due to animal contact.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
● Lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
● Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
● Use radios, phones, and computers for communication and record keeping.
● Available for long and varied shifts, including holidays and weekends.
