Responsibilities:
● Spend most of your time in the field with limited supervision
● Review construction plans to verify compliance with North Carolina Technical Codes
● Address questions related to building codes and county policies
● Troubleshoot site development issues and collaborate during pre-submittal meetings
● Communicate regularly with architects, engineers, and designers to prevent potential code violations
● Assist homeowners in understanding various requirements
Qualifications:
1. General PME Inspector:
● Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry
● Starting pay ranges from $23.57/hr to $37.00/hr
● A 4-year degree in an architectural, engineering, or construction-related field qualifies for a probationary level II certificate
2. Senior PME Inspector:
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry
● Must hold a Standard Level III Building Inspections certification
● Starting pay ranges from $26.33/hr to $44.76/hr
Required Qualifications:
● High school diploma or GED
● Standard Level III Code Official Certification required in one of the Plumbing, Mechanical, or Electrical trades at the time of hire
● Standard Level II Code Official Certification required in the remaining two trades within four years
● Strong skills in customer service and familiarity with Microsoft Office
