As a Plumber I, your key duties will include:
● Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, drains, and water heaters
● Conduct inspections of plumbing systems to identify and diagnose issues or defects
● Interpret blueprints and technical drawings for plumbing system layouts
● Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members on project requirements
● Estimate materials, equipment, and labor costs for plumbing projects
● Carry out installations and repairs of plumbing fixtures
● Cut, thread, and bend pipes using appropriate tools
● Clean up job sites and ensure proper waste disposal
● Weld, solder, or join pipes using approved methods
● Test plumbing systems for leaks and proper functioning
● Troubleshoot plumbing issues and provide effective solutions
● Adhere to plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards
● Mentor and provide guidance to junior plumbers
● Keep accurate records of work performed
● Coordinate with suppliers for plumbing materials and equipment
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
● Report unsafe acts and conditions to your supervisor
● Correct substandard acts or conditions within your area of control
● Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
● Participate in safety initiatives and report all injuries or incidents immediately
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a plumbing apprenticeship is preferred
● Proven experience as a Plumber Helper or Apprentice
● In-depth knowledge of plumbing codes and best practices
● Proficiency in interpreting blueprints
● Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and tools
● Excellent problem-solving abilities
● Effective communication and leadership skills
● Ability to work independently and in a team
● Strong attention to detail and time management skills
● Valid plumbing license/certification is preferred
● Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions:
● This position involves physical labor and may require working in confined spaces or at heights
● Work performed indoors or outdoors, depending on the project
● Exposure to various weather conditions and potentially hazardous materials
