Responsibilities:
● Perform maintenance and repair on generators and parallel systems ranging from 5-5000kw
● Troubleshoot and repair Automatic Transfer Switches, including bypass isolation and closed transition types
● Conduct preventative maintenance service, including oil and filters
● Troubleshoot AC and DC circuits and replace components as needed
● Perform start-up/commissioning on new generators and generator systems
● Troubleshoot and repair diesel or gaseous engines, including ignition components and valve adjustments
● Carry out load bank testing to ensure proper operating conditions and code compliance
● Assist other technicians with multi-person jobs and troubleshooting complex issues
Qualifications:
● High school diploma required; Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical field is preferred
● Generac Power Systems certification is preferred
● Prior experience as a US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or Generator/UPS field service technician is a plus
● Excellent communication and report writing skills
● Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record
● Good computer skills, including Microsoft software proficiency (Word, Excel, etc.)
● Capable of managing difficult customer situations and providing prompt responses to customer needs
● Willingness to attend training courses as required
