We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Area Mechanic to join our Engineering Services department. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy working hands-on in a dynamic environment and want to contribute to our mission.

Job Details:
● Location: Iowa City, IA
● Employment Type: Full-time
● Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (including weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call)

Responsibilities:
● Apply all necessary safety precautions while working with electrical, steam, or mechanical equipment.
● Inspect electrical, mechanical, steam, and plumbing equipment periodically to ensure operating efficiency and identify potential issues.
● Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical equipment, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and HVAC systems in assigned area.
● Execute specific written preventive maintenance procedures on systems and equipment.
● Check and complete shop work orders, returning them to the appropriate office upon completion.
● Inspect and report building issues including carpentry, painting, and roofing to determine corrective actions.
● Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues and occupants regarding building maintenance.
● Maintain inventory of necessary spare repair parts and supplies.
● Train apprentices and other personnel as needed.

Qualifications:
● Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.
● Four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training.
