Responsibilities:
● Operating power equipment and hand tools to install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and related components, including irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, control panels, valves, and pumps.
● Performing spring start-up and fall winterization of irrigation systems.
● Maintaining inventory of irrigation parts and supplies.
● Documenting all major irrigation work as per departmental guidelines.
● Assisting in the construction and maintenance of city parks, open spaces, and recreational areas.
● Operating and maintaining park maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
● Applying herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals as directed.
● Managing daily work assignments and training part-time staff on equipment maintenance.
● Undertaking winter duties including snow removal and maintenance of ice rinks.
● Completing other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:
● An Associate’s Degree in a related field or a high school diploma with a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience.
● A valid driver’s license required for vehicle operation.
● Preferred: Additional education or experience related to construction, carpentry, plumbing, welding, turf care, tree care, or irrigation.
● Pesticide applicator certification in turf and ornamentals category (preferred).
● Journeyman or Master’s plumbing license and/or commercial driver’s license (preferred).
