Responsibilities:
● Perform general clean-up of grounds and facilities
● Clean and paint station and treatment plant equipment
● Make repairs to water meters (5/8″ to 2″)
● Investigate customer complaints and high bills
● Inspect services and facilities based on complaints or work orders
● Flush and service mains, and inspect fire services
● Collect water samples and turn on/off meters
● Read meters of all sizes and designate account numbers for new services
● Record meter and service repair requirements, making necessary repairs
● Recheck meter reads and repair mains and services
● Clean/change meters (5/8″ through 1″) and replace boxes/covers
● Operate system valves as required and notify customers for shutdowns
● Complete necessary paperwork and assist with installing/removing meters
● Check customer lot size for service installations
● Locate company facilities to a minor extent
● Perform other assigned duties
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or GED
● Construction or plumbing experience, equivalent to a laborer or apprentice
● Valid Driver’s License
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of pumps and related equipment
● Familiarity with water and wastewater systems principles and practices
● Understanding of safety regulations and procedures for job sites
● Knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting repair and installation
● Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
● Ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions accurately
● Problem-solving skills to develop solutions based on specifications or instructions
● Ability to perform a variety of duties efficiently under deadline pressure
● Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees, public, and customers
